Potter Law represents students and families in Title IX, student conduct, academic integrity, and disability accommodation matters.
Nancy Potter also serves schools and colleges as an independent hearing officer and appointed advisor.
My background is in how these systems work from the inside.
Before starting Potter Law, I served as a Supervisory Attorney and Team Leader at the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, where I investigated complaints against schools and colleges under Title IX, Title VI, Section 504, and related civil rights laws.
That background shapes how I approach cases. I understand how these processes are structured, what schools are required to do, and where the gaps between policy and practice tend to appear.
Schools that hire me as a hearing officer or appointed advisor get someone who understands these processes from a civil rights framework, not just a liability management perspective.
Students & Families
Students and families contact me when a Title IX complaint has been filed, a disciplinary hearing is scheduled, an academic integrity charge needs to be answered, or a student isn't getting the accommodations they're entitled to. I also work with families navigating the disability accommodations process and the transition from high school to college.
Schools & Institutions
I serve schools and colleges as an independent hearing officer, appointed advisor, and Section 504 grievance hearing officer. Available for appointment on a case-by-case basis.
